What a great meeting place! Delicious shepherd's pie. Great service. Waiter was professional and courteous - offered sample of egg nog which was fabulous - best ever!!!

Go here for Irish food and you will enjoy it. The fish and chips are delicious and not something I would usually order, but they were good. Great beer selections that are cold! Staff is attentive, even the Irish music is enjoyable and I'm not a fan of live music- but I guess it's because it's sucked in the past. Both live performers here have been great.

Came highly recommended by a co -worker but I was leery from reading the reviews. Wow this place is downright fantastic. Ate at the bar bartender (Jamie) was friendly, upbeat and recommended I try the vanilla Porter that was like nothing I had experienced before. Our App was superior, corned beef and mashed potatoes wrapped in cabbage. I had the salmon which was simply delicious my wife fish and chips which were equally as good. We don't normally get to SP since we live in west county and we have tons of new places at Waugh Chapel but we are going back I feel like we discovered a real gem in BB. My co-worker wasn't kidding BB is the real deal.

Thanks to manager Ken for getting us a great table for Mothers Day! This was my 1st time here and Ken was very helpful by working with me on finding a table for 10 on short notice. The buffet was very plentiful and varied and was delish. Almost all of us had an omelet, too. The order process was easy and efficient. Our server was fast and friendly on a very, very busy day! Definitely check out this family owned Irish pub!

If they happen to have the cranberry crusted tilapia as a special GET IT! Without a doubt, one of the best fish dishes I've ever put in my mouth. And I'm not even a big fish eater, but this stuff was GOOD! Their standard fare is pretty tasty as well...I've never had anything I didn't like, and they have a decent beer selection. Go on the weekends and you'll be treated to some live music, although it would be nice if the music was more along the lines of traditional Irish instead of standard easy listening. Or maybe I've just not made it on the right nights......either way, it's enjoyable, but would have been better with some Irish flair.

Way to expensive-staff ignorant of Irish culture behind the name-soda bread clammy food miserable -overlooked wait staff surly- what they do best-take your money

Used to go to Sunday Brunch often and it used to be very good but seems like the quality of the food had declined. Almost all buffet dishes were lukewarm or cold, gravy had no taste and scrambled eggs tasted like made from powder. Waffles used to be accompanied with real whipped cream, now it is ready purchased. Prices have gone up and quality has gone down.

Brian Boru Restaurant is a excellent place to dine. My wife and I were visiting our eye doctor and decided to have lunch at the restaurant. I talked to the Chef Greg and Joe the waiter who were as nice as anyone could be. I told the Chef that the Bean, Potato Soup and Ham Soup was perfect also the Corn Beef and Cabbage Egg Rolls was different and great. We have eaten at Brian Born for dinner and the we admired the ambience of the restaurant and the Lamp Shank that eat was delicious when they have a special. If it isn't on the menu ask. Will visit Brian Boru very soon. I rate Brian Boru at least a 5 Irish Flags or Stars if you prefer. Mario and Merle Teresi, Dundalk, MD

Went here for brunch Today. First time. They had there buffet Going. The waiters were good. Our Waiter was in training and the trainer Was close by. We were his first solo Table he did great, The food on the other hand not so great. The shepherd's pie was extremely salty, it over powered the dish. Our server mentioned this to the Chef, who agreed that the dish was a little salty. The Eggs Benedict were dried out little yolk balls with very little Hollandaise sauce. My 86 year old mother, who recommended this place, had an omelette that looked like a folded over scrambled egg and she was horrified. The bagel with cream cheese was good. Don't know if we will go back again . Ever place deserve a second chance or at we think it does.

Bottom Line: A casual and utilitarian Irish-ish pub that fulfills the role as an addition watering spot in SP. Brian Boru, located on the north bound side of Ritchie Highway, is an Irish pub serving libations and Irish inspired bar food. The atmosphere is casual and the staff is friendly. Nothing about this establishment is amazing, but I always appreciate a local business. If the luck of the Irish is with you, you will be able to enjoy Happy Hour specials in the bar until 6:30pm, Monday's through Thursday's. Happy hour includes draft beers, a few cocktails and a handful of appetizers. As much as I love a cold Smithwicks, you can't beat the $5 Martinis here during HH. I also enjoy the $5 HH crab pretzel. Something that Brian Boru does really well is Tuesday night trivia. Trivia starts at 7:30pm, is free and moves at a comfortable pace. Just don't get your knickers in a bunch if you lose to Beer Pressure. The trivia winner even gets a prize! Often, Brian Boru feels like a quiet, quaint neighborhoods bar but there are times when it's packed and loud. Expect a large crowd on live music nights.

I am so late n writing this review. I had dinner here on St. Paddy Day with my sweetie and must I say The fish and chips was delicious.. I was in the mood for fish even though I do love Reuben Sandwiches. which the next time I visit I will check it out. This place was super crowded and they had a band performing which was great! Everyone was dressed up in there Irish gear and it was fun and the food was good. The desert I ordered was the Irish Bread Pudding OMGGG sooooo yummy!! They have booths and regular dining tables and the staff is so friendly and helpful. It's a good little drive away but if you want to try something different and you like Irish Pub bars and food give them a try. They also have non Irish items on there menu as well. with a very nice bar inside for drinks.. and just hanging out. :)

Went to this place for the first time with a large group of about 25. I was pleasantly surprised...friendly enviroment, nice, cozy and clean. I had the crab cakes plates which was 3 stars but my husband had the NY steak which was juicy. Both dishes came with vegtables that looked fresh and cooked well. I would not recommend the Irish Mojito, it was weak but they have a lot of different drinks that I would like to try next time. All in all, I liked the place and it was great for our large group with excellent service.

After our experience here tonight I had to update my review. The place was dead. Seriously. The ravens game had just ended. I'd figured the place would be packed. There were maybe 20 people in the entire place. Our section was completely empty. So tell me why, if the place was that dead, did it take 20+ minutes to get our food out? And it's not like they had to actually cook any of our food. To be clear that's not a part of the complaint. I know the corned beef, mashed potatoes, shepherd's pie and such are made ahead of time. They should be. So, why, if all you have to do is heat it up, did it take so frigging long? My kid and I were quickly losing our patience. Our server was very nice but new and probably not moving as fast as a could have but I've got to lay most of the blame on the kitchen. The manager came around and saw my frustrated face and checked on us. (A. with that few people eating you could be checking on everyone.) I mentioned how long it had taken and that we were still waiting on the scoop of (really bland and cheap tasting) ice cream for the kidlet. He agreed and thanked us for letting him know...and then took one beer off the tab. I'm not asking for a comp'd meal or a major discount but one $6 beer?

Went for mothers day brunch. First off I will preface by saying I do not like buffets. The food is over cooked and barely maintained. So to find out that this buffet was $20 for bland scrambled eggs and meat set me off. The server was so busy trying to rush us out that he forgot several things we ordered like drinks and so forth. Just not a good experience all around. The mojito however was great. Removed stars for: Staff and Parking

Solid 4.5. I've only been here once at night on September 20th and the place was busy. Fortunately, we didn't have to wait. My sister, her boyfriend and I met up here around 7pm that night. Service was undeniably fantastic; from our immediate refills, perfect timing between appetizers and entrees to them being very attentive without the feeling of intrusion. Even the other waiters that were walking by would service us and make sure we're good. Onto the food. They apparently don't serve Mac N Cheese anymore except through the kids meal so we ordered that plus the Bruschetta appetizer and we all got the Prime Rib. I got it medium rare and it automatically comes with steamed veggies and a baked potato. My sister's boyfriend ordered a Guinness. Got it in a few minutes and we got our appetizers. Their Mac N Cheese was probably the best I've ever had, same with their bruschetta. The flavor from the MnC was outstanding. I can't explain what it tastes like other than it's cheesy and flavorful. As for the bruschetta, the bottom outer layer of the bread had a perfect crunch and at the same time the upper layer was as tender as a woman's behind. Really though, it was divine. It has a strong flavor of garlic so it might not be the best choice for you non-garlic fans. However to me, I absolutely loved it. Now onto the prime rib. I've never been to places like Morton's, Ruth Chris, Tio Pepe's and other fine dining restaurants that serve steak so I hope you understand me saying this place has my favorite Prime Rib. It might not be the best to you, but for me and my experience, the prime rib here was near perfect. I got the prime rib medium rare so there were a couple places with gristle and there was a gigantic piece of fat sitting on the outer part of the steak. But aside from that the steak was cooked perfectly and though I'm not a huge fan of Au Jus, this place made it taste great with the steak. It was so tender, juicy and flavorful. What I did was take a small piece of the fat with a piece of steak and dipped it in the Au Jus.... Absolutely marvelous. The veggies they gave me were seasoned just right. The baked potato was a baked potato. The fact that I got a medium rare, my steak was the biggest out of all 3. They also had a local band come in and play some music for us. I didn't recognize any of the songs EXCEPT 1 which was from an underrated band called Citizen Cope. They were great and since we sat kinda far, it wasn't too loud. Just perfect. My sister's boyfriend wanted a refill of Guinness but it took at least 15 minutes before he got it, however, our waiter said it's on the house. Even if it wasn't on the house, it didn't deter my experience lol. Had a great time here and looking forward to getting their prime rib again!

I went here on St. Patrick's day and the food tadted good. Great service. But almost my entire group got food poisoning from the shepherd's pie. I ended up having to stay overnight at Anne Arundel medical center. Never again.

Came for a Meetup event and was not impressed at all. The only positive was that the waffle tasted good and the strawberries were fresh and sweet. Everything else looked store bought, stale, and just plain old tired. Mini cereal boxes with milk? Um, I could have made that at home. No really, I have that same cereal at home, and I can make that myself. That is continental breakfast that I expect at a hotel or work event. Croissants tasted strange, like maybe they were purchased at an after-hours sale at a store. Omelet just wasn't good. Didn't eat more than two bites. Put some chicken and dumplings on my plate, but decided not to try it, as it wasn't very appealing to the eye. Everything on the buffet looked storebought and the brunch wasn't worth the price.

I would recommend this place to anyone :) I went with my girlfriend tonight for dinner and we were pleased. We were seated in a little aisle off to the side, so I'm not even sure what the whole restaurant looks like. But where we sat was nice and quiet. Our server Bobby was very kind + efficient, and the food came quickly. I got the vegetarian boxty which was delicious. My anti-vegetable girlfriend even liked it. She got the salmon blt and said it was great. They were both large servings. The let down was dessert. The only sin about the "sinful chocolate cake" is that they have it on the menu. It was soo not worth the calories, fat or sugar that was probably packed in there. We didn't eat much at all (and I'm a die-hard chocoholic). Hopefully their other desserts are good. But I would totally go back just for the entree.

Never had a bad experience. Very lively with good local bands playing. Servers are the best too. Always look forward to coming back! The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the food choice. Not a lot of options.

GREAT Nutty Irishman coffee! The food is solid but we haven't had any standouts to shout about, the band is wonderful but we usually sit in the dining area because it is too loud (volume) to hear people talking when they play - even the slow songs are cranked up high. We haven't had a bad drink yet, so do take a chance on the nutty Irishman - I think the whipped cream is made in-house.

I don't order off the menu here very often since I mostly partake of the buffet on the weekend. I really enjoy the Irish Soda Bread French Toast. Its great. The buffet has everything a brunch would need. Love the buffet in fact why don't they expand it to both days of the weekend?

We've been here on Sunday for brunch and Monday's for burger night. The brunch has a variety of items to choose from, all of which tasted very good. They have an omelet station with a large selection of toppings to choose from. At $15 a person (drinks NOT included) I'd definitely return for brunch. Burgers on burger night are about $6-$8 with the purchase of a beverage (soda counts). The burgers can get adventurous but for the most aren't anything spectacular.

Well, After years of stopping in, there is a decline afoot. Great music but the service was less than a 1. Had to continually ask other waiters to go get ours- to order, to remember to refill drinks, to bring a check. The food was just plain ok. Last visit 2 weeks ago, I ordered a spinach salad and got a huge bowl of spinach...and little else. 3-4 rings of onion, a tiny tad of feta that fell to the bottom and maybe 3 little cherry tomatoes. My guest and I were both shocked! I didn't post a review because I had hoped it was just an anomaly. This time I opted for the cabbage rolls - stuffed with corned beef and potatoes. The corned beef was almost nonexistent. My friend had experienced really tough, dry corned beef on the last visit and warned me that it may not be up to par. I think this should be an irish pub highlight. The food and service had been really good for years. Definitely seeing some changes and not for the better. Too many other places in the area to go back. Outside patio planters are FILLED with cigarette butts. Not a great first impression on the way in!

This was our first time at this restaurant. We were greeted, promptly seated and our waitress was friendly and efficient. I got the lamb stew(soooo good)...hubby got pot roast. This was the 3rd time I've eaten lunch here. It's never crowded and they provide quick service. The tomato soup is thick and chunky unlike the stuff that comes out of the can. The lobster mac and cheese is also fantastic.

Fantastic! My crab cake was awesome, my crab dip was awesome, my Magners was awesome... Suffice it to say the experience was awesome. :) Jaime (who was the main man maintaining the bar area) kept our drinks full and the jokes rollin'. Very courteous and quick. My husband and I will certainly be back! (And thanks to Jaime for recommending Yards to my husband! He loved it!)

What a disappointment. Went there for dinner and will not be returning. As a first visit, I was excited to be able to order real irish food. NOT. The cottage pie was bland, had to ask for bread and with 3 people at the table, we were served 2 thin slices of bread. Okay, had to ask for everything a number of times. The dinners are pricey and not worth the money. Too bad, I was hoping to have found a gold mine of an irish pub.

Called ahead and made reservations for a booth. Show up on time, and we got put in a corner, at a table meant for two and definitely not three. So we wait and wait, and finally get some drinks ordered and wait longer still for some menu's. Thank goodness we brought some crayons and coloring books for our daughter or she'd have lost her mind. Food took unusually long...and was not hot when it arrived. I ordered corned beef and cabbage which was pretty good. He ordered a burger which he said was 'meh'. They bring out our food and somehow our daughters food was never cooked. So. We wait and wait some more for her chicken tenders to some out. We're done before her food gets to the table. Waitress offered us complimentary dessert to make up for it, but the lack of choices for dessert was yet another disappointment. Bread pudding, chocolate cake, apple pie, and a baileys drink. We got a slice of chocolate cake (it was the biggest piece of cake I have ever seen, and had a rich icing on top. I'll give credit where it's due...) to go, and were happy to be out of there. The menu is extensive, and I had trouble deciding what I wanted to get. Had we had a better experience I would have been dying to go back. But boy was that a disaster.

This place used to be one of our favorite places to go for date night, however, after our last trip to Brian Boru I'm certain we won't be returning. It all started with my iced tea tasting fishy and it got progressively worse from there. I had the beef stew which I was really looking forward to trying but it was a major let down. The entire stew was overloaded with some sort of dried herb and it literally tasted like it had been stewing in the bottom of the pot for days. My husband had the Jameson Steak and it was a total train wreck. His steak seemed like one you would get from Chili's or Applebee's for half of the price. It was grey, overcooked and over dressed in some oily sauce. His twice baked blue cheese potato was even worse. It was literally a hollowed out potato loaded with so much intensely funky cheese that he couldn't eat it. I'm not sure what is going on with this place but it's not good. It is not worth the money.

Since Brian Boru's opening 5 years ago, I have always wanted to dine here. Located off Ritchie HWY, near the intersection Magothy Bridge road, hidden in a small shopping center you'll find BB. Overall the decor reminded me of classic Irish pub, with a simple quaint decor. I went for happy hour, offered M - F 3p until 6:30p, and was able to get half off their appetizers and on select beer / house wines. Looking for a quick bite I went with the Oscar Wilde wings. Lightly breaded, deep fried and served with a mild hot sauce on the side, the wing's were fair and slightly overpriced even with the half off price tag, they were normally $11 and felt like a bit of a rip off. Mostly all the beers were served at about the right temperature for each beer, and the selection was fair and slightly boring. You will find anything from Great Northern Brewery, IE: Guinness, Harp, Smithwicks. The bartender was friendly, but took way too long to bring me my tab, I was sitting in front of him too, which was slightly irritating. Overall I feel like this would be a good place for a meal, but as for a pub it's lack luster and below average. 3 stars, A-OK. Side note: - Excellent selection of whiskey's I noticed a few top shelf names, but nothing too expensive. - Menu is extensive offering Irish cuisine and American style foods. - FREE WIFI

Due to circumstances we decided this year to go out to a restaurant for Thanksgiving. We initially planned to go to Brewer's Alley in Frederick as we had been there before for their Thanksgiving buffet. It had great food and great service. By chance we found out that Brian Boru's was having a buffet. We had not been there in a while, but we had always enjoyed both the food and the service. We called and made reservations and were really looking forward to a great dinner. We also invited a friend of ours to join us and I raved how good the food was at Brian's. The hostess seated us and our server introduced himself and took our drink orders. I thought I would have a glass of wine. I had forgotten my reading glasses and told him I would like a glass of the house shiraz. He was a little iffy about what wine they had and I said to just go ahead and choose as I could not read the wine list. I am not sure what it was, but it was not too bad. We went to the buffet. We had made reservations for 5:00 PM. I had not realized at the time that they were closing at 5:00, found this out later. The young man who had taken my reservation should have said something. I would have gladly come earlier. The reason I mention this is because there was not a whole lot to choose from on the buffet. I had started with some salad and fruit, but our guest had also taken a sampling of the fish, turkey, cauliflower, etc. My fiancée had some turkey, potatoes, etc. It started really going bad when our guest said the fish tasted like ammonia. When fish tastes like ammonia, it means it was not good before it was cooked. The rest of the meal went downhill from there. It was bland, not very good and the turkey was basically a turkey roll. The one good thing was the bread pudding. We also noticed the rest of the diners were not going to the buffet very much either. I was embarrassed because we had invited our friend to join us and it was a terrible experience. She was very sweet about it, but I was mortified. It is sad when a restaurant you used to like and enjoy cannot provide the quality it used to. Needless to say, we will never go back to Brian Boru's again. I hope one day we can laugh about that year where we had the horrible Thanksgiving dinner, but I am not in a laughing mood right now. Right now we are hungry and very disappointed. We should have just gone to Wawa for the turkey bowl, which is a helluva lot better than what we got at Brian's.

Unfortunately I have to write a bad review for Brian Boru tonight. I called before we left the house (New Years Eve) to make sure that you could just order from the dinner menu. I was assured that would be fine. After arriving within 10 minutes, we were told that the dining room was booked with reservations and we could sit in the bar. Of course, looking into the dining room there were MANY empty tables (at 6:30). OK, we didn't have a reservation so I was a little peaved that they didn't tell me that when I called but we went over to the bar to find a table. Most of the bar tables were full- so we waited a minute for a table that needed to be cleared. However, the waiter then told us that that table was needed for the music (band?). We could have the crappy table right in front of it in the middle of the aisle. Since that was not an option for us we left. We are not picky diners- I realize we didn't have a reservatios. But we were there early (6:30) and there were MANY empty tables and we didn't want to sit at a terrible table in the bar area- ESPECIALLY when I called first!!!!!

Went here with my love when it was 10 degress outside, and let me tlel you that this food really hit the spot and warmed us up. He had the shepherd's pie and I had the Medieval Stew, both of which were incredible tasty! Our server, Wyatt, was FANTASTIC. He was polite and attentive; I ordered a drink, Peppermint Paddy, and there was apparently no hot chocolate mix left, but instead of telling me to choose a new drink, he didn't even mention it and made it from scratch and it was AMAZINGLY yummy :) We came on a Tuesday and stayed for Mike's Trivia in the bar, which was a great time. A fun-loving and friendly crowd frequents this restaurant and if I didn't live across the country I would make myself a regular. Met both managers and they were friendly and welcoming! Thank you for a great night! Hope to visit again soon!

This a great Irish pub with a several authentic Irish entres on the menu. The bar counter is a bit small and I expect it'll be crowded during happy hour but I've always gone here early in the day for lunch or early dinner and always found plenty of open seats at the bar. They have a lot of fish on the menu which is a non starter for this fish hater. But I must say the fish menu looked good for you fish lovers. I found several fish dishes that I asked if they would just substitute chicken for the fish. Sadly they didn't bite... If you really want to get the full Irish experience and have a variety of dishes to taste, check out their Sunday brunch. They have a little of everything put out for their brunch and just help yourself. You'll be happy you came if you ever do their Sunday brunch!

Had the corn beef and cabbage. He had Sheppard's pie and he said it was very good. Corn beef was good and cabbage was so so. An Portin Still out in timonium may be better.chocolate epresso mousse was okay...nothing to scream about. But their coffee is excellent. Their scallop appetizer on bed of green is just wonderful; will go back anytime. Menu is big and has lots to offer. Lots of salad options...saw a plate go by and it looked good...just wasnt in mood for salad

Delicious variety of apps, have you tried the Corned Beef dip? prime cuts of corned beef with cream cheese and melted cheese ontop. served with fresh french bread. YUM! good wine selection, and even better beers on tap.

Food was pretty good. Corn beef dippers were really good with the sauce. I got the fish and chips which I really enjoyed. The batter wasn't heavy and homemade tartar sauce even better. My wife got the meatloaf. Fresh veggies came with it but the mash potatoes were nothing special. Beer selections were very nice!

Really loved this place, I wouldn't be surprised if it became a regular place for my boyfriend and I. We came here on a Sunday evening, the place was pretty empty, a few people watching the game at the bar and the tables full in the corner where we were sat. Overall impression of the place is it's clean, well-kept. Staff was friendly, quick, and attentive. Our food was fantastic, I had the Sheppards Pie, an old favorite my Mother and Nana used to make. It definitely did not disappoint, and I devoured the whole thing despite how full I felt half way through. My bf got one of the seasonal dishes. Fresh tuna topped with guacamole and crab meat with garden rice and beans on the side. He really enjoyed his as well. They have a fantastic selection of beers, and a decent wine list. Prices seemed pretty normal, perhaps a smidge more expensive than typical pub prices, but nothing too extreme. Definitely a place to add to your list to try out.

We arrived after getting dinner elsewhere and we were pleasantly surprised to find live music. The man playing was named Dan Haas and he was fantastic! The atmosphere here is warm and inviting with lots of dark wood for the bar, tables, stools, etc. We sat at the bar and had a few drinks while we listened to music. The bartenders were quick and attentive as were some of the other employees who stopped by just to make sure we were not hungry etc. I've eaten dinner here before and it was fairly authentic Irish with lots of cabbage/corned beef/Shepard's pie options. However, it was fairly expensive for the portion sizes. i would recommend Brian Boru as a stop for drinks.

Not that I do much bar-hopping in the Ritchie Hwy area, but this is the best bar I've been to around there. I came for the ladies' night. Correction: the wife dragged me here for the ladies' night. They have a very warm and inviting atmosphere and the drinks are about the same price as one would expect everywhere else. I was happy to see Smithwick's on their beer selection. We were at an Irish pub, after all. It's pronounced smiddick's by the way. Don't mispronounce it or you may be given a hard time... I learned that first hand. Of course it was all in jest. I only had a couple of appetizers while I was there. Brian Boru has the standard fare of fried food amongst more traditional Irish selection. From what I had, it was nothing to write home about, but the entrees looked better than the fried corned beef we tried. We ordered a slice of chocolate cake, too, and it was massive! There was more than enough to share between four people. My favorite part was that they have live music during the week. I'm not sure if it is every night, but we were there on a Thursday, so I suppose it's possible.

I can't speak for their recent customer service as this happened to me a year and a half ago. I was planning my baby shower for my second daughter. I'd made the reservation in advance for 20-30 people. I called back the week of to confirm my RSVPs that I'd have 25 people coming. Ok, no problem except for the girl on the phone being a bit rude. We're told to order the big appetizer trays we want to call back the night before and put the order in with the chef. When we go to do this, the manager says that they won't be able to accommodate my entire party, especially since we're just ordering appetizers. The manager was quite rude and I felt like I was being treated like a burden rather than a paying customer. Also... 1. They couldn't tell us *any* earlier that a party that big wasn't possible in their venue? (which I know is a lie, as I've eaten in this restaurant before) 2. The appetizers were what *I* was paying for for the party, everyone else was planning on ordering an entree off the menu out of their own pocket. I made this very clear every time I called. Apparently, I am a liar or the manager and staff just refused to listen. 3. I was a loyal customer to Brian Boru before this. They knew me and my friends quite well, as we're the unmistakable singing pirates that come in about once a month or so. So, they were treating established loyal clientele like *CRAP*. Not a good business practice. Customer service was always iffy before, sometimes great sometimes terrible... and the food was always a little pricey for pub grub but I over looked it because I liked the food and the ambiance of the place. But after the way we were treated, I refused to go back. And when I visit Maryland again I will not go back to Brian Boru. The resolution to my problem came in the form of Piratz Tavern down in Silver Spring. I called the owner, and she took our reservation without a problem and we were treated with respect and open arms. Sadly, I had to call and email *EVERYONE* the night before the shower to inform them of a venue change, which frankly is incredibly stressful and cut down the number of guests who could make it significantly. My advice is dine here for small parties, but don't expect to be treated with respect. Large parties most definitely go elsewhere. Like FADO, McGinty's, Tir Na Nog or Piratz Tavern.

This is a great place for a beer, and they have a very fun trivia night on Mondays. They serve Irish pub food, and it is yum.

Yummy food, great beer selection, never very busy. Not a lot of choices for vegetarians, but the boxty is really delicious.

This is a regular, go-to destination for nice family outings. Some of the menu is exceptional - the corned beef poppers and goat cheese poppers are great. My wife likes the crab cake, which is a tall order for a Marylander who knows good crab cake. They're always pleasant and we actually had my promotion party here because of the quality of the food and the staff. Their happy hour deals are solid. Good stuff.

Fair Warning: I've been to Brian Boru dozens of times now. I know most of the bar staff by name, and it's my favorite place to eat/DRINK in Severna Park. My Review of the Reviews: See all those reviews down there talking about Sunday Brunch this, and Buffet that? Is that really what you're going to judge this place on? "The buffet food experience one hopes (often in vain) to avoid," really? I've never been to Sunday Brunch at Brian Boru, and if I ever go, I'm not going to base my opinion of the place on that experience. That would be like going to Ravens Stadium for a concert, and being disappointed by the acoustics. It's a football stadium, it's good for WATCHING FOOTBALL!! Brian Boru is an Irish Pub/Restaurant, it's good for Corned Beef and Whiskey and BEER! If you're reading these reviews, please don't form an opinion based on the Buffet Brunch connoisseurs. My Review: Here's a couple things to remember. 1) Service at the bar is likely to be better than anywhere else in the restaurant. So if you're comfortable with that environment, go straight to a high top table, bar booth, or the bar itself. 2) Tuesday night is Burger Night. It's really busy, especially around happy hour. Service might be a little slow, but the burgers (basically, any way you like them) are still $5 (with fries!!). Anything on the menu with corned beef is really good, if you like corned beef. The fried oysters are good. The Prime Rib is good, but you should probably order it on a Friday or Saturday to get it as fresh as possible. The traditional Irish stuff is good if you like traditional Irish stuff (Shepherd's Pie, etc.). If you're going to sit at a table (i.e. not at the bar) it's actually best to go during peak hours when they have the most servers working. Seems weird, I know, but that's just how it is.

5.00 Tuesday burger night can't be beat. Comes with Fries.. 5 Bucks! It's a great pub atmosphere. If you seriously go to a Pub with high expectations for taste, you clearly don't understand how Pubs work. I've had other menu items besides the burger and they're as expected, nice wait staff and quick service. It's probably going to become my Tuesday night dinner location. If you can find a place around here that will give you a quality burger and fries for 5 bucks please send me a message.

It's been quite a while since our company holiday party, which we had this year at Brian Boru. If you are looking for a place to host a corporate event, may I suggest that you do yourself a gigantic favor and give Brian Boru a call? As someone who has never organized any kind of event other than a house party in my life, I was totally worried that it would be a hassle to find a really fun, cool, party-like venue a month before Christmas. I thought it would be expensive to rent out the place, a hassle to find someone who could answer my questions, and a nightmare to organize a menu and a drink special to satisfy about 100 people. It wasn't. The management staff at Brian Boru is amazing. I met with one of the managers once to check out the location and he went through all of my questions, immediately understood the vibe we wanted, and he made suggested based on everything I gave him, including budget. I was worried that our budget would be too small and that we wouldn't be able to offer much to our guests - I was totally wrong. He sent me a menu via email, let me make changes, and then revised it. The party was perfect. One of our highest turn outs for a company event, the food was FANTASTIC, and the drinks were extremely reasonable. People mentioned what a great time they had and congratulated me on how wonderful my planning was but I promise - all I did was pick up the phone and have a few conversations. Everything else was taken care of by their staff. (The waitstaff for our party, by the way, were equally as amazing. Very friendly, extremely patient, and they had an uncanny knack for taking your drink order and then tracking you down in a matter of seconds, even if you had moved across the room.) If you're not planning a party, and you're just deciding which Irish pub to frequent, I would absolutely go to Brian Boru over Irish Channel any day, even though Irish Channel is about 3 minutes from my house and Brian Boru is about 20. The commute is worth it for better food, better service, and a better atmosphere.

Shepard pie is very good but a small portion. Lots of beer on tap and no doubt a wide selection of Irish whiskeys. Also tried the crab cake appetizer (excellent) and had a very good burger.

Went here for a business lunch meeting. The service and food was very good. The waitress was attentive but not intrusive. The corned beef rueben was huge, I had to save half for dinner!

Went for Sunday brunch had a horrible experience. It started even before i was seated. I got here early and decided to wait to it opened. (i was the first one here). I see other people pull up they let them inside so we were like lets go in. We walk up to the door they told us to go outside and wait (but yet they let the other people wait inside and it was raining and they locked the door like we were going to rush in on them). So finally they do let us in it took awhile for them to seat us (to long for being the 2nd group there). We ate food was ok service was ok i guess. So now what. I need to use the restroom i go in and there in only ONE STALL in a big restaurant and pub. I try to do my business but i cant because a line was forming outside the stall. One person was leaning right up against it tapping his foot. So i was like forget it (i had to leave the other person i was with and go across the street to the grocery store to do my business (that is sad). Anyway after we were done eating we got our bill went to pay it was $34 we paid with a $50. It took over 15 minutes to get us change the person knew we needed change i just think the server was taking forever thinking we'd leave so he could get a $15 tip. This place is a joke i will never go here again.

Quick review of one of my favorite places... Brian Boru is one of my staple restaurants. I usually find my way to the bar, so I have no comments on ability of waiters. I will say, the bartenders John and Erin are great. I prefer to go on nights they work, thats how great they are!! So make your way to the bar and enjoy excellent service and great drinks! Warning: do not dare go here and skip the corned beef balls. they are an amazing appetizer. In fact, the corned beef reuben is another not to miss- I almost live off of it. Also try the fish and chips, I've never had it but I've seen it ordered A LOT.

My family and I are Monday Burger Night regulars, going about once a month or so. With that said, the burgers must be good because they keep us coming back for more! There is a nice variety to choose from and between my family and friends we have we have tried most of them. Each creative burger selection can be ordered as an Angus, turkey or veggie burger. The Caribbean burger is especially tasty made with turkey. The turkey burgers are so good that they are often sold out on busy nights. Tonight I ordered the Buffalo Angus burger. It is cooked in buffalo wing sauce and covered with blue cheese. The steak fries that come with the burgers are big and slightly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and great with malt vinegar. So yummy and just $5! I've had many wonderful meals and experiences at Brian Borou, including Sunday Brunch, Ladies Night (Thursday), Happy Hours (Monday-Friday) and evenings listening to music and have often meant to write a Yelp review. After all those good intentions I am finally taking time to write because of the particularly attentive service we had tonight. The service is always good and the servers and bartenders are almost always friendly but I really want to give a shout out tonight to Jordan. She was warm, friendly, helpful and attentive. Our water and tea were refilled throughout the meal and everything was served up with a great big smile. Thanks Jordan!

The place has its ups and downs. First, is that everything is greatly overpriced, just like the cigar shop next door. Burgers for 13 dollars?!! I ordered a long island and when I received the check the drink cost me 10 bucks, really for one drink. The food is ok taste and price wise, if you come during happy hour to get their apps half off. The rest of the menu is a little too rich(taste wise) for my taste. Another low is the service in the bar area if you sit at one of the surrounding pub tables. I do not know if it is by design, but there are no waiters in the pub table area surrounding the bar. The bartenders, when they can sneak away from the bar, come to take your food order and drink orders. It takes forever to get served(something I can't stand at a pub/bar)! Things are not much better when ordering a drink at the bar time wise as the tenders are wondering the floor. NOW to the pluses, the have decent live music on certain nights, they have a great outside to eat, drink and watch the cars go by on ROUTE 2(note they do not serve the back smoking porch), and they probably best deal on a price for food quality, which their 14 some dollar Sunday brunch(does not include drinks). Overall this is a one and done as a restaurant, slightly better as a bar/pub, and unless you are old and retired or a rich yuppie as most of the clients. The prices really drive this down compared to other comps in the area let alone same zip code, 21146. The other reader mentions the 5 dollar burger night, but you have to buy a six dollar beer to 4 dollar soda to get the burger for that price, do not know how this place will stay in business in 5 years.......(I have had better Irish food to boot).

I have to say I really liked the food and service, until the part of the walls came crashing down. Yep, that's right apparently they have these low wood partitions in the dining room that are not bolted to the floor. My two youngest toddlers were walking by and put their hand on it and whosh, it falls straight down to the floor. Luckily it went away from the kids so there was no blood or mass hemorrhaging. The waitress told us not to worry, that happens all the time??? Well, that is my last visit to that place since it is a death trap for the kids!

Our second time here trying to keep our money close to home. This is a good little "Irish Pub", i had the Reuben which was great and came with some big ole steak fries. My friend had the lamb stew which was OK too. No need to save room for dessert, the bread pudding and the Chocolate Mousse were just meh... This place is clean and the staff is friendly so i left it at 4 stars.

I have only been for the brunch, but it was well worth it. There was an excellent selection with a create your own omelet and fresh waffle stand. I would recommend a reservation as it fills up fast. For the price, I would have hoped for mimosas or bloody marys to accompany the breakfast.

Just had the Sunday Brunch. The food was very good but it was our 1st time since it 1st opened and we didn't remember how it worked. No one told us it was ONLY brunch or offered a menu. When the waitress finally showed up we asked for menus and were told not necessary just brunch. When we got to the buffet we noticed an unmanned omelet station. My husband asked as was told to fill out the form (?) at our table. We couldn't find them so the guy took my husband to the table and showed us the little form back with the sugars, it was turned so we couldn't see what it was. Maybe the waitress should have asked if we wanted one or what to do. We filled out the form and then couldn't get the waitresses attention to pick it up. Finally gave it to a passing waitress and about 10 minutes later it arrived. Had a hard time getting our waitress' attention for refills for drinks or for the check. Didn't seem that busy. Not sure we would go there again, although at least we now know how it works.

Best fish and Chips in Annapolis. Another perk is they have cider on tap. The service was outstanding both at the bar and in the restaurant. I agree with other reviews about the Tuesday night 5 dollar burger night being an event one can not miss. Burgers are made to perfection. They are juicy and appropriately seasoned.

Stopped in here last night for a beer. Pretty cool bar, nice atmosphere, friendly bartenders. Had a 2 man band playing covers and they were surprisingly good. Enjoyed my time here and will have to come back and try the food at some point.

$5 Burger Night on Mondays is a deal to not be missed. Excellent selection of burger types (beef, turkey, vegetable) and toppings (from bacon and cheese to peanut butter) makes for a endless array of options. Our server, Shannon, was incredibly courteous and knowledgeable of the menu and bar options. I'll definitely have to go back to try another day.

Family and I have been for brunch on a Sunday twice this year. Once, months ago. The second time a few weeks ago. Finally getting around to writing a review. Based on the first visit, would have given three, maybe even four, stars. Was very pleasantly surprised at how great the food in the buffet was. Really tasty. Everything looked like it had just been cooked and was frequently refreshed. Was wonderful. Service was attentive and helpful, especially given that we have younger children. The second visit was very different. The food was pretty uninspired and bland. Some of the food looked and tasted like it had been sitting in the warming trays for quite some time and/or had been prepared much earlier and then reheated. Basically, was the buffet food experience one hopes (often in vain) to avoid. The service wasn't so great either -- not altogether bad, but not like it was the first time. Wondering why the big downward change between the two visits. Not likely to go back for brunch again, although might give it one more go at some point to see whether the second visit was an anomaly or reflective of a permanent change.

Brian Boru is a sister restaurant/ pub to Killarney House & Galway Bay. So the menu is pretty much the same as the other two. I enjoy the Wexford Potato pancakes that contain Cashel Blue cheese (yummy!!!) mashed potatoes with the crispy crust. Of course you can't go wrong with traditional Potato & Leek soup. The Chieftain salad is set off by a Black Current Port dressing (they should bottle & sell this). My DH enjoys the Scallop casserole. I really like the Cottage Pie every time I get it. You can't go wrong with any dish that has lamb. I allwas like getting the carrots and parsnips for my side, it feels like home to me. Plus they have a great variety of beers, ales and lagers too. But doesn't everything taste better with a pint of Guinness?

Preamble: I really, really, really want to like this place. Three stars based on wanting to like it, and having been to the brunch first. If we went to Saturday-lunch first, it'd be two. Or, likely, one. Been back a few more times -- the brunch is the way to go. Someone there cares about brunch. Perhaps, even, trained in or sampled from the Center Of The Brunching Universe. This is not a "ludicrous spread the size of a football field, like you find in Vegas" (soul-restoring as they can be) but more a "feature-replete, modest, high-quality buffet," like you'd find at a very well catered party. Not always exactly the same stuff each time, either, which is nice. Table service can be a little weak (flagging down for more coffee, after my cup is as empty, cold, and unloved as Cheney's heart is fail-rific, as is having to ask repeatedly for more cream whilst the finally-delivered coffee cools) but for the price, atmosphere and food quality, ya' can't beat it. Now, there's been an alarming number of rugrats running around the times we've been (try not think of the grubby fingers on the public food... try not think of the grubby fingers on the public food... try not think of the grubby fingers on the public food...) but ya' can't blame Boru for that. On the other hand, if they added a "Kid's Meal" brunch for, oh, I dunno, $49.95?, they'd earn more fans. Anyway - The brunch rules. Great place, great (most of the time) service, great food. Heck, the steam-table Eggs Benedict were better cooked (though the muffin was a touch soggy, but it was on a steamtable, so you can't blame it!) than a certain over-proud-of-their-Benedict place up the road, and they were on a _steam_table_. Come to think of it, maybe i need to update that review, too. But, to be fair and even handed (if a bit tirade-y): Saturday lunch was rough. For starters, no lunch menu, just a full dinner menu. Maybe the waitron screwed up and gave us the wrong menus, but I was surprised. They have a non-buffet brunch menu on Sunday (which looks quite good!), but no lunch menu on a Saturday? Fail. Further compounding the fail, the Shepherd's Pie I ordered (based on being so tasty on the buffet) was not well assembled - seemed nuked to hell and back underneath (the stew bit) while artlessly pasted with lukewarm potatoes on top -- smooth and featureless is great for drywall, not so much for food! And, suprisingly, not browned at all. OK, that's not fair, there might have been a hint of browning at the one slight crease on the 'Tato Top. Honestly, the Sunday Big Ol' Tray looks better, and more lovingly, prepared. Very disappointing... _particularly_ at Full Tilt Boogey Dinner Prices. Further, service was slow and inattentive... particularly unacceptable as there weren't many diners. Most alarmingly, the Irish Coffees were hastily / poorly assembled, and nowhere near up to the snuff of the previous examples. There seems clearly to be an A Team and a B Team. Further, it must be some East Coast Thing to take away an empty glass and... never... offer... another... beverage. Seriously... what's with that? Maybe it's an odd joke I don't get. (Never liked Seinfeld either. Was there some episode you all memorized lambasting being offered another drink in between bouts of self-glorifying wonder at how great NY is?) Must have missed that in initiation or something. Here's a tip, waitrons of the world: Offering another beverage (a) is friendly and (b) increases EtOH intake and (c) adds to the check total, then, et voila, a + b + c == d Wherein (d) = "Increases tip, sometimes substantially." Just sayin'! So, maybe Saturday is the punishment shift - those that party too hard Friday night get saddled with what must be skinflints and no-thanks-just-water-orderers on Saturday, or something. We'll be back for brunch, for _sure_. We'll still probably try a dinner or two.... but Saturday lunch was a surprising disappointment... if you're gonna phone it in, why open at all? Three stars. But barely. Brunch stays four, but if that slips... there will be much disappointment and gnashing of teeth!

A very comfortable place to meet friends and have a good beer. I would have given it 4 stars if they had more of a selection of local beers such as Heroes Pub. The service was friendly and place was well appointed with an open atmosphere. There are plenty of seats in the bar area. We only ordered appetizers for food, the calamarie was delicious.

Been here a few times, always good food. I ordered a new entree on the menu today, a pork ribeye. Oh my god that thing was incredible. I can't remember the last thing I had that was that amazing. I will certainly be coming back for this.

I went a few Sunday's (12/7/2014) ago and the service was SO SLOW. Only about 2 tables and 1 patron at the bar. The super socially awkward bartender (male) was just so weird. Creepy and just so f*cking awkward. It took forever to get refills and the check! The awful bartender was looking at his phone and talking to the one patron at the bar. Really loud, really annoying. The food- I didn't even bother finishing it. I had a Reuben- not good at all. Please avoid. This place is sad. And the bartender was so awkward- I hated it!

Cool place, traditional Irish Pub in Severna Park. Shepard's Pie is always a winner, but the seasonal menu is tough to turn down. The tuna was perfection and the bartenders/servers were friendly and upbeat. We sat in the bar and the live entertainment was so amazing as well.

***Update - the food is still good, but now, if you go there for 5.00 burger night and don't order a drink, they will charge you 2.50 more fore the burger. Kind of icky! Went last night for the first time for Tuesday's $5.00 burger night...Burgers were fresh, and excellent! There was no catch - they were $5.00 and came with fat fries (known as "Chips" in Ireland). I also had the Bailey's Chocolate Mousse - also very good, but not large enough portion for the price. You should definately mark your calendar for Tuesday nights at this great pub!

Meh... Mediocre Irish Returned to Brian Boru after not being there for a while in hopes that the quality of food had improved. Went in with friends after a wedding and food was still not very good, other than Great place to have a beer. Wish the chef had one ounce of creativity and actually made something authentic rather than cookie cutter stuff I can get at tgifridays. What a waste of money we definitely won't return. Not worth it.
